HISTORY

PORTAL WINES is the continued legacy of the Hernandez Family Winery (Bodega Familia Hernández). A four generation Family business.

Founded in 1971 by Professor Alejandro Hernandez M. Our winery has 52 years of experience. Since its origins began exporting the brand Portal del Alto.
«Don Alejandro», Agronomist winemaker is in turn professor and teacher of 55 generations of the best Oenologists in Chile and was the first non-European president of the O.I. V. (International Organization of Vines and Wine). He also served as an advisor to multinationals such as Pedro Domecq Mexico and Spain among others.

Today Rodrigo Hernández, son of Mr. Alejando Hernández Muñoz, has the mission with over 50 years of experience, work and the passion with which his father, a master for over 55 generations of oenologist from the Catholic University of Chile, to face this new era of wine with more demanding consumers and competitive markets.

Commercial Engineer, with more than 25 years in the wine industry, in charge of the sales and marketing direction of key marketplaces such as: USA, Latin America and China, with great
experience in business, marketing, logistics and higher-level commercial relationships.

His early stages at The Coca-Cola Company as Product Manager forged his concern and dedication towards the consumer, to achieve further improvement in Portal del Alto Winery of his family, in the tasting and elaboration of wine, delivering personalized attention to its customers.
In charge of the opening of national and international markets, brand positioning for mass consumption products, participation in international fairs, marketing manager abroad,
importers and distributors.
Today he maintains the commercial direction of Portal Wines Group, with a considerable portfolio of clients around the world.

Our mission is to take Portal Wines Group to the highest production level. Maintaining the
quality of the brands that have valued us for 50 years and developing new lines of wines,
to meet the challenging international markets.

With a philosophy according to the new consumer trends, without losing the tradition of concentrated wines, ripe fruit, moderate use of barrels and preserving the quality, identity and aromas of the grape.
